Captain overcomes Vice Captain's team

Sunday saw the annual Rider cup competition take place where the Captain and Vice Captains take charge of a team each and go head to head in a Ryder Cup style battle over 18 holes. 9 holes of 4BBB followed by 9 holes of singles.

This year there was 38 entrant (2 Teams of 19) which meant the first team to 15 points take the bragging rights.

The Captain's Team (Dave Yarwood) came out victorious over the Vice Captain's team (Dave Wiliams) 17-12 in a very hard fought contest which came down to the last few singles matches.

The 4BBB session was very close with the Captain's team taking the session 6-4 after winning the last 3 matches.

The Vice Captain's team responded in the singles and after 12 matches had closed the gap to 11.5-10.5. However 3 wins in a row courtesy of Phil Dowd, Monica Boyd and Ladies Captain Niki Mann put the Captains team in command. It then meant that Michael Keegan's half point against Colin Morrow was the half point the Captain's team needed to win the trophy and have bragging rights for the next 12 months.

With Dave Yarwood having a prolonged tenure as captain, there will be a rematch in 2026 and a chance for Dave to get his revenge before becoming Captain himself in 2027.

Congratulations to Dave and his team
